Flood Protection

The expansion area for Potter’s Bridge park is in a flood plain.  When the White River starts to rise, the new park area and lake will help store the water from the rising river and then release it slowly back as the waters recede.  When land is cleared, such as for new housing developments, water runoff into the river increases.  Establishing the wildlife habitat and lake will help absorb and redirect the river water to prevent flooding downstream in Noblesville.
